Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Resource Fair
In partnership with Care Parent Network, the City of Walnut Creek will be hosting our second IDD Resource Fair to celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month on March 7th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the various services available throughout the East Bay, speak with experts from each organization, and engage with other members and care providers from the IDD community.

Ceramics
Mondays, 3/23–5/18
10:00 AM–11:30 AM
Bring your sculpture ideas to life! Students will learn different techniques to implement into their pieces throughout the course. Explore various hand building techniques such as slab, coil, and pinch pot to use as a foundation for your sculptural ideas. Guided by a teaching artist from Center for Community Arts and with support from Specialized Recreation staff, students will receive personalized assistance and encouragement throughout the creative process, ensuring an inclusive and inspiring environment.

Drawing & Painting
Fridays, 3/20–5/29
5:00 PM–6:00 PM
Guided by a professional teaching artist from the Center for Community Arts, participants will explore a variety of drawing and painting mediums to create unique, original works of art. With support from Specialized Recreation staff, students will receive personalized assistance and encouragement throughout the creative process, ensuring an inclusive and inspiring environment. Join us and discover the joy of artistic expression in a welcoming and supportive setting.

Craving bold flavors, Southern charm, and a good time? Come on down to Sauced BBQ & Spirits in Walnut Creek, where the smoky scent of slow-cooked meats meets a lively, welcoming atmosphere that feels like a backyard party in full swing. We will meet at Civic Park Community Center and walk to the restaurant in downtown Walnut Creek. Specialized Recreation staff provide supervision and guidance, assisting as needed with meal orders and ensure that conversation is both lively and appropriate.

Specialized Recreation Day Camp
The City of Walnut Creek offers specialized summer camps for participants with developmental and intellectual disabilities ages 5 to 22. We've made a few changes for our 2026 summer camp season:
- We're excited to offer half-day camp options this year! Limited spots available for a 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. camp day.
- Swim lesson add-ons will not be available this year. To learn more about swim class options, visit the City's Aquatics webpage.

Inclusion Services are available for all camps offered through the City of Walnut Creek. Individuals of all abilities are encouraged to participate in the camp of their interest. To request an accommodation for a camp outside of our Specialized Recreation offerings, please submit an accommodation request form and identify the camp you're interested in.
